Dairy Queen has expanded their DQ Bakes Artisan-style Sandwich menu with the introduction of the new Kansas City BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. Pulled Pork is not an item that I would expect to see on their menu but why wouldn’t I give it a shot? The Kansas City Pulled Pork Sandwich features slow cooked pulled pork topped with Kansas City style BBQ sauce, sliced onions, and pickles served hot from the oven on a warm, soft artisan-style pretzel roll. Wow.. that’s the first thing I could use to describe this. Normally when I go to McDonald’s, I know it’s always going to be the same ol’, same ol’ McDonald’s meal. The menu is never exciting, nor does it ever change. That is why I was in so much shock to actually see not just 1 new sandwich, but the ability to mix and match and actually create EIGHTEEN personalized sandwiches with the addition of their New Signature Crafted Burgers.
I’ve done the Burger King hot dog thing before and hadn’t been impressed. I’ve had the Whopper Dog and the Chili Cheese Dog before and I felt like both were lacking overall taste and freshness and that I would much rather go to Sonic if I wanted to get a fast food hot dog. I’m not really sure what got into me today but I really wanted to give them another chance to redeem themselves and see if they have gotten better and/or learned from their previous mistakes. Because of that, today I am trying for you the Burger King Classic Grilled Hot Dog and (again) the Burger King Grilled Chili Cheese Dog. Continue reading “Burger King Grilled Hot Dog (Update)”
Hardee’s brags (and for good reason) that they have the only hand breaded chicken tenders in the fast food game. Hardee’s has tried spicy tenders before but with a wet drenching of Franks Red Hot Sauce. I thought could have been improved to bring better flavor and less of a mess. This time around, they are going to try to dry season these tenders with a Cajun kick and see if they have a greater taste and success over their saucy cousin.
These chicken strips are available in 3 piece or 5 piece varieties and can come in a combo with fries and a drink. Since I think Hardee’s Hand Breaded Chicken Tenders tend to be a little on the smaller size, I splurged and went for the 5 piece meal. Continue reading “Hardee’s Hand Breaded Spicy Chicken Tenders”
KFC’s all-new Georgia Gold Chicken with its tangy honey mustard BBQ sauce is now available with Extra Crispy Chicken, Extra Crispy Tenders, or on a Chicken Little sandwich. I first branched out and tried the Georgia Gold sauce last week with a Chicken Little meal but felt like I was so short-changed, that it wasn’t even worth a review. The complete and utter lack of sauce on them made you barely get even the slightest hint of honey mustard BBQ and they tasted no different from just eating a regular KFC Chicken Little.
Hoping for better luck this time, I am trying the Georgia Gold sauce on KFC’s Extra Crispy Tenders. These meals are served with 3 Georgia Gold Extra Crispy tenders, a side of Cole slaw, and a biscuit for Continue reading “KFC Georgia Gold Chicken”
Dairy Queen Chicken Strips had always been one of my favorite meal options at DQ as I’ve previously posted out in a former review. Plump chicken strips, hot fries, and buttery toast all dipped in country gravy.. what more could you ask for? The new fad in fast food this past month appears to be doctoring up chicken strips so DQ has implemented their take on this fad. Dairy Queen is trying to appeal to dad’s and are attempting to give out the sports-bar, wing-eating feeling from a fast food joint. DQ’s 100% all-tenderloin white meat chicken strips are now available, tossed in a Honey BBQ Glaze and are served with crispy fries, Texas toast, and ranch dipping sauce. This is also available in a combo with a drink for just $1 more. Continue reading “Dairy Queen Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Strip Basket”
Papa Murphy’as debuted their $5 FAVES this past summer which includes Classic FAVES Pizzas, Scratch-Made 5 Cheese Bread, Garden Salad and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. If you were to buy one of each, you’d spend $20 and have a well-balanced pizza dinner with cheesesticks, salad and dessert! I took this as a chance to do something a little different though as I just ordered 2 pizzas, 1 pepperoni and 1 sausage. Yeah this is a lot of pizza for just a family of 3 but it gave me a good opportunity to Continue reading “Papa Murphy’s $5 Faves”
Burger King has been hammered over the years for their lack of a quality chicken sandwich. Their Tendercrisp has been through some up and down phases but has never been the crispy chicken sandwich the customer, OR Burger King, had hoped for. Burger King’s New Crispy Chicken Sandwich is made with 100% white meat chicken filet, seasoned and breaded and layered with fresh lettuce, ripe tomato, and creamy mayonnaise on a potato bun. Coming in at 670 calories, could this Crispy Chicken Sandwich turn things around for Burger King?
According to Business Insider, Burger King’s New Crispy Chicken Sandwich features a smaller 4 ounce patty but they have upped their game on its marinade and cooking process to make the chicken patty crispier on the outside and juicier on the inside.
After a little longer than anticipated wait time to get my food, I got my meal and was surprised to see hot and fresh sandwich AND fries. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich had 2 slices of tomato and a perfect amount of mayo. The lettuce could have used some work as it wasn’t really leafed lettuce but lettuce scraps. From the looks, I was just expecting this to be a Brioche bun so biting in and noticing it was a potato but was a little bit of a surprise for me. Not that it was a negative, it was just a surprise.
The chicken filet was cooked perfectly as the chicken had a great amount of juice left in it. So many times you get fast food chicken that is very dry but not this time. Great batter, great moisture, great sandwich. And with hot and fresh French Fries, I’ll wait an extra minute or two to get a meal like this one!
A vast improvement here. Make sure to check this one out!
After missing breakfast today and then getting a small, crappy lunch, I was at a point by dinner time that I was starving. I’m usually not one to go after a large sandwich like this but there was no holding back today. My extreme and intense hunger led me to step out of the box and try the NEW McDonald’s Grand Mac.
McDonald’s is pretty lackluster when it comes to bringing out new items so getting this chance is something that doesn’t come around too often. McDonald’s though it would be a good idea to update their iconic Big Mac to 2 other versions.. one smaller (Mac Jr), and one larger (Grand Mac) but I Continue reading “McDonald’s Grand Mac”
