Carlinville Plaza Cafe Double Cheeseburger

Memorial Day weekend for me was like many others across this country as we spent most of the weekend on the road traveling. We ended up in a small town called Carlinville located in west central Illinois. This will be a special review for us as this is not fast food but more of a sit down diner type establishment. Since Saturday was National Burger Day, why wouldn’t I try a burger from somewhere and where better than a local small town joint. I was able to get a double cheeseburger and fries for just $7.50.

Double cheeseburger was much larger than I expected it was going to be, but I’m not going to complain about that. You got 2 nice quarter pound patties and 2 pieces of cheese and whatever toppings you wanted on the side that you could customize to your liking. Burger had a nice crust on the outside that provided the burger with great taste and texture. Only thing I would have preferred would have been the patties to be a little thinner and a little wider because a double was a pretty big bite, especially with the added toppings.

Fries were crisp but nothing special. As you can tell, they were frozen crinkle cuts, not a handmade fry. If they would have been cut from real potato and then fried, this meal would have been the bomb!

Our service was good waitress was friendly and kept our drinks full. All in all, a great tasting burger to enjoy National Burger Day. I’m glad we stopped in and checked this place out! If you are in the area, check this place out!
