It had been a couple of years since I had been in an Arby’s before my trip in a couple of weeks ago for their tasty as hell Bourbon Bacon & Brisket sandwich. It was so good that I’ve already made a return trip to check out another item. Today I tried for you the Arby’s Reuben combo. The Reuben is marbled rye bread filled with freshly sliced corned beef, melty Swiss Cheese, tangy sauerkraut and creamy Thousand Island dressing. This is a Reuben sandwich inspired by the New York standard.
I personally prefer pastrami on a Reuben just for the fact that I like the smokey taste of the the brisket over the corned beef flavor. This was still a pretty good overall Reuben sandwich. The only critique I would give is there was a 1:1 ratio of meat to sauerkraut. I personally prefer meat over the tangy taste of the sauerkraut so I could have done with a little less kraut, especially in the middle bites.
Sandwich was hot. Cheese was nice and melted. There was a perfect amount of Thousand Island dressing on the sandwich as well. Enough that you got a good consistent taste throughout but never too much where you got a huge glob of it in one bite. The bread was crispy and held up well to the wet ingredients inside. The sandwich came pre-cut too so that was nice because it made it easier to eat.
Overall, another successful trip to Arby’s. I’ll be going again soon!
