Welcome back to the Avoiding Blowout Review Blog. The 4th of July has come and went. Everyone is out having a good time.. loving America.. shooting off fireworks.. drinking cold beers.. and grilling out tasty food on the grill. I figured everyone is going to be too busy to read my reviews so why not use this as a few days of vacation for myself as well. So now that I’m fresh off a few days break, I will be back to posting daily reviews of my food experiences for you!
Today’s feature, is Dave’s Single from Wendy’s that features 2 slices of America’s number 1 cheese..American! Dave’s Single is the new improved name for the old trusty favorite that everyone has had many, many times.. the Wendy’s 1/4 lb Single with Cheese. Dave’s Single features Wendy’s always fresh, never frozen burger patty, 2 slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and both mayo and ketchup on a freshly toasted bun.
I will say that presentation was a little sloppy on this sandwich. The burger patty was slid off over the edge so it prompted me to open it up to fix it. I am glad I opened this up to fix that because there was 4 slices of red onion piled right up on top of each other. Those would have been some sharp bites! The sandwich really only needed maybe 2 slices of it so I removed a couple and then separated those two slices of onion out a little more to make each bite of the sandwich a lot more even!
Besides a little sloppiness, Dave’s Single was good eating! Burger was hot and fresh and the 2 slices of American Cheese were melted perfectly on this sandwich. I also really enjoy this new bun that Wendy’s has brought out as well. I think it’s much of an improvement over its older bun as it always seemed to be a little dried out and more stale tasting than this new version. Every time that I have had this new bun, it’s been perfect each time!
I’ve had several good meals in a row from an improving Wendy’s restaurant in Hannibal, MO. Over the last several years, I have had many bad meals and many meals that have taken a long time to receive. I typically only go there at lunch, but I think it’s seen a big turn around in service over the last few months! I hope your next visit is as good as mine!
