Pizza Hut has been the chain to bring you whatever you wanted in your pizza crust. They started off with cheese only in the Original Stuffed Crust. Then over the years, new varieties have come to fruition with Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza, Cheesy Bites Pizza and they even added piggies in the blanket to your pizza in their Hot Dog Bites Pizza. It’s no surprise that they would bring their newest offering to the table; I’m just surprised it’s taken this long. The time as come though and Pizza Hut has now introduced the Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza!
The Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza features a stuffed crust filled with a delicious blend of three cheeses (mozzarella, white cheddar and provolone) and pieces of real Applewood smoked bacon. Bacon is the one thing you can add to damn near anything and it will make it better so how could you go wrong by having it in your pizza crust?
As you can see from my picture above, the amount of cheese and bacon in the crust is far over exaggerated as compared to what you see in promotional pictures and commercials. Mine had just a small layer of cheese and bacon on the bottom part of the crust and overall it was just a pocket of air. This, though, didn’t mean it was lacking any flavor because it was still packing a flavorful punch! The cheese was delicious and the applewood smoked bacon flavor came through with ever bite. If you are someone who doesn’t like pizza crust, this crust will be right up your alley because you still get the feel like you are eating the middle parts! You may just want to ask for some marinara sauce to dip your crust in. Also remember, like with any Pizza Hut pizza, you can add flavors to your crust like pretzel or garlic or even more cheese for free. Make sure to check out their additional crust flavors or drizzles for added deliciousness to your pizza!
As far as the pizza itself, you got a lot more toppings on it that I expected you would get for a 1 topping pizza. I got this half and half and it was covered with both sausage and pepperoni. I was very satisfied with the toppings because this thing was loaded! The bottom crust was far thinner than I expected it would be though. For $11.99 for a large 1 topping pizza, I expected to get their hand tossed crust. The crust was paper-thin and pretty flimsy and the pizza didn’t stretch as far as I had thought it would.
Another flaw with it and you can tell by the picture above, this pizza was a grease bomb. Not just on top of the pepperoni, but this entire pizza underneath both the pepperoni and the sausages sides were covered with a coating of grease. That part really grossed me out that this pizza was sitting on top of all that. I had to let the pizza sit on paper towels to “dry up” a little bit so this pizza was edible. That part was very disappointing but I wound up getting by with a little help from my friend Brawny and was able to get it down.
Overall the flavor was good but preparation could have been better. Very greasy on the bottom and nowhere near the amount of fillings in the crust as I expected. Also don’t expect a large pizza to feed 4 people because its pretty dang thin. As long as you know that going in, I think you will still find this an enjoyable experience.
