Burger King – Whopperrito

Burger King has done the Whopper. Burger King has also done the Angry Whopper. Burger King most recently did the Whopper Dog. And now, Burger King is bringing us the experience of the Whopperrito. The Whopperrito is made with savory flame-grilled 100% beef and seasoned with a special blend of spices to deliver the ultimate burger-burrito mashup. It’s stuffed with a creamy Queso, pickles, diced onions, juicy tomatoes, and crisp lettuce all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. It’s fresh out of the microwave, lets try it out!

No seriously.. It really was fresh out of the microwave. As I was standing there waiting for my name to be called, I watched as the Whopperrito was prepared and then disappeared. It really made me wonder where it went to and then a short time later, I saw the worker reach down and pull my Whopperrito out of the microwave. Almost made my guts turn just thinking about this burrito stuffed with pickles, juicy tomatoes and “crisp” lettuce being nuked for 20 seconds in a microwave. Nevertheless, I was still going to try it out.

From initial glance, I was actually surprised but this was pretty full of meat. I thought it was going to be mainly full of lettuce as that is likely the cheapest of the ingredients but meat was #1 today. I was actually pleasantly impressed after my first bite that this Whopperrito actually had a Mexican style seasoning to it as well. I expected plain regular unseasoned Burger King patties but this actually had a lot of flavor to it. The cold ingredients did get a little warm and soggy through the preparation but it wasn’t too bad to ruin the meal.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for seeing this Whopperrito being pulled out of the microwave and slapped on my tray, my opinion of this would have been higher than it was. It actually had pretty good flavor and was a pretty good portion size. Just knowing that they had to nuke it to warm everything up was a major turnoff for me. I would rather think that my meat was fresh and not cold and laying in a bin.

If you can overcome the image of it being removed from microwave while you are eating it, it’s worth testing out while its here!
