I’ve been a fan of the new items at Dairy Queen over the last couple of years since they have added a toaster oven that is used for both making desserts and for baking off sandwiches. I have done reviews of a few of their items including the Chicken Bruschetta and most recently a review their new Artisan Philly Sandwich. Diary Queen has now added even more options to their DQ Bakes menu by adding snack items at all under $2. These snack items include snack wraps (which they have been available already for some time) and now the addition of Pretzel Sticks and Potato Skins. The Pretzel Sticks and Potato Skins are what intrigued me so I’m going to be reviewing both items for you today.
You can now try to get your ballpark pretzel fix at your local DQ. Dairy Queen’s Soft Pretzel Sticks are served hot from the oven, topped with salt and served with warm zesty queso dipping sauce. I really didn’t expect too much out of these as I know they are going to have been previously made and just reheated in the oven. To my surprise though, the pretzels were pretty good even without the queso and had a pretty nice texture still. I think they could have maybe been a little more chewy but I was still overall pretty impressed. The zesty queso does have a little bit of a kick to it. Not too much for someone who can handle heat pretty well but it’s also not something your young kid is going to enjoy. Personally, I thought it was a good compliment to the pretzel but I was just surprised to taste a little heat in their cheese sauce.
Their Potato Skins served hot from the oven filled with zesty queso cheese sauce, bacon bits, cheddar cheese, and seasoned with a dash of salt & pepper. These weren’t bad but weren’t the greatest potato skins I’ve had either. They had a good solid bite to them and still head up firmly as a finger food even with all the toppings on them. They really just lacked a little flavor as I expected more out of these since they were topped with 2 different cheeses, bacon, and S&P. In the end, I think the Pretzel Sticks were my favorite of the two.
Both items are likely only going to be around for a limited time so make sure to check out our local DQ soon so you don’t miss them. Comment back to tell us what your favorite was!
