Burger King Grilled Hot Dog (Update)

I’ve done the Burger King hot dog thing before and hadn’t been impressed. I’ve had the Whopper Dog and the Chili Cheese Dog before and I felt like both were lacking overall taste and freshness and that I would much rather go to Sonic if I wanted to get a fast food hot dog. I’m not really sure what got into me today but I really wanted to give them another chance to redeem themselves and see if they have gotten better and/or learned from their previous mistakes. Because of that, today I am trying for you the Burger King Classic Grilled Hot Dog and (again) the Burger King Grilled Chili Cheese Dog.

My wait for me food wasn’t long at all and again had great hot and fresh French Fries. I started off my meal though with the Classic Dog. The Classic Grilled Dog is a flame-grilled hot dog made with 100% beef topped with ketchup, mustard, chopped onions, and relish and served on a fluffy baked bun. It came out with looking pretty sad looking with large hunks of onion and too much relish to the amount of ketchup and mustard. The one positive I’ll say about the dog is that the taste of the 100% all beef frank really comes through well. The hot dog did have good taste but I found the large hunks of onion and the taste of the relish to be overpowering.

As far as the Grilled Chili Dog, this is my second time trying one of these. The Chili Cheese Grilled Dog is a flame-grilled beef hot dog made with 100% beef topped with warm chili, cheddar cheese, and served on a fluffy baked bun. Besides the fact that there was too much cheese in the middle of this dog, this was a GREAT all around hot dog. The dog also had the great 100% all beef taste and was plenty warm. The Chili was hot and for the most part melted all the cheese, except for where there was a large amount right in the middle.

I consider this trip to BK a vast improvement over the last time I’ve had the Grilled Dogs and made me absolutely consider getting them again. Or at least this Chili Cheese Dog. As long as BK keeps up this positive trend on serving a warmer, fresher product, I could see myself wanting to keep coming here more often!
